Mia Love’s Election Year, Flip-Flop Position in Support For DACA/Dreamers. Finally, After Focus Groups and Polling, Mia Takes Her ‘Principled’ Stand! Read the Facts

May 14, 2018

Welcoming Mia Love's NEW position on supporting Utah's DACA/Dreamer young people. She was very much against DACA until this election year maneuvering. She voted multiple times to deport DREAMers and defund DACA.

In 2015, she voted to restart deporting them in a Dept of Homeland Security bill.

She's voted to choke off funding for DACA to allow start-up of deporting them once again.

Voted For Amendment To Defund DACA. On January 14, 2015, Love voted for an amendment to defund the President’s executive action on immigration. “One of the amendments would choke off funding for Obama’s executive action announced in November, which would allow some illegal immigrants to stay in the country and obtain work permits.” [HR 240, Vote #29, 1/14/15; The Hill, 1/14/15]

Voted For Amendment To End DACA. On January 24, 2015, Love voted for an amendment to the Department of Homeland Security funding bill that would end a program to suspend the deportation of DREAMers. “A second amendment would halt the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA), which lifts deportation for some illegal immigrants who came to the United States as children.” [HR 240, Vote #30, 1/14/15; The Hill 1/14/15]

One of the amendments Love voted for would halt the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA), which lifts deportation for some illegal immigrants who came to the United States as children.” [HR 240, Vote #35, 1/14/15; The Hill, 1/14/15; CQ Floor Votes, 1/14/15]

I welcome Mia Love's NEW position on supporting DACA. But, can we trust her to hold this position after the election--when Trump and the party bosses start pressuring her again?

18. The Great Salt Lake is Drying Up. Astonishingly, The State Political Machine is Not Interested in A Serious Scientific Look At What's Happening and the Consequences

One of the reasons why they may not want to investigate is because their master plan includes sucking off huge amounts of water to the Bear River Diversion. That would rob the Lake of 50% of its freshwater inflow. Very bad for the lake--but very good for the short-term financial interests of a few developers.
