NY Times says Utah turned over secret Driver’s Licence Information to ICE. Utah officials say the state did not.  Who do you believe? Herbert? Utah Legislative Leadership? The NY Times? Georgetown Law’s Center on Privacy and Technology?

A) GOVERNOR HERBERT, --Nothing happened here. Move along

B) LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP--We spent a good 10 minutes on the phone asking questions. Nothing happened here. Move along.

C) THE NEW YORK TIMES--that reports that Utah is one of only two states that turned over to ICE driver’s licenses card information about undocumented immigrants. ICE officials requested permission from all states to comb through state repositories of license photos. At least two of those states, Utah and Vermont, compiled, searching their photos for matches, records show.

D) HARRISON RUDOLPH-- Of Georgetown Law’s Center on Privacy and Technology. He obtained documents through public records requests. He says Utah was one of just two states that passed along to ICE facial recognition technology to scan state driver’s license databases, including photos of legal residents and citizens.

“This is a scandal,” Mr. Rudolph said. “States have never passed laws authorizing ICE to dive into driver’s license databases using facial recognition to look for folks.”

He continued: “These states (Utah) has never told undocumented people that when they apply for a driver’s license they are also turning over their face to ICE. That is a huge bait and switch.”

Once again, a major Utah scandal. Swept under the rug. No hearings. Nothing under oath. No witnesses. No one wants to hear from the experts. No questions--no answers. Just cover up and spin.

Democrats—the Governor and GOP In the Legislature do not want the truth to come out. Show some spunk-- there are many questions left hanging. There must be public hearings, under oath.--We spent a good 10 minutes on the phone asking questions. Nothing happened here. Move along.
